“DON’T REJOIN TO FIX: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed” is the blog post which I use when I need to fix the relationship between my SharePoint development server and its Active Directory (AD).
When using multiple Virtual Machines like older or client specific versions, it’s a meaning of time until your SharePoint server does not trust his own AD. All existing sites are working just fine, but I mostly notice this when I’m start to create a new site collection, because this fails. You can also see this behavior also in the SharePoint people picker, because it cannot find any accounts anymore.
Just change your computer password using netdom.exe!
netdom.exe resetpwd /s:<server> /ud:<user> /pd:* <server> = a domain controller in the joined domain <user> = DOMAIN\User format with rights to change the computer password |
