The Spaarne Hospital has gathered all information on cancer treatment and care provided to patients in the Oncology Centre in one website: www.zorgbijkanker.nl. This means the hospital's Oncology Centre now has both a physical and a virtual presence. The new website has been developed by Mavention on a SharePoint 2013 platform.
People who are diagnosed with cancer have a lot to cope with. The new website aims to improve information provision between patients and practitioners and support treatment in the best possible way. It provides a wide range information on cancer, including information on cancer research, different types of cancer, diagnosis and treatment, possibilties for guidance and advice, and information on the hospital's team of specialists involved in the treatment. The website also contains experiences of cancer patients.
Added value of SharePoint 2013
The new website, www.zorgbijkanker.nl, has been developed in the latest version of SharePoint: the SharePoint 2013 platform. The most important bonus of SharePoint 2013 for the Oncology Centre is that all exisiting content on www.spaarneziekenhuis.nl could be used or reused in a smart way and is now managed from a single point.
The website's navigation and structure has been built using SharePoint's 'Managed Navigation and Term Set'. Other techniques used include Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), easy to read URLs or Friendly URLs, and image renditions for optimising image display.
